I’m the jelly man built you a house on the moon switch switching around everything I do but your eyes still scare me I miss the solid ground and you still unveil me as a half-wit clown you got me falling in the hole swimming like it’s slow motion got me falling in the hole running like there’s no tomorrow someday the sun will return perch on my shoulder and then I’ll walk back into the light I’ll be my own best friend again no one will no one will no one will ever know but I will I’m a brand new man bought me a house on the moon swish swishing around in my new spacesuit but you still undress me with your x-ray eyes and you still impale me on my own white lies you got me falling in the hole swimming like it's slow motion got me falling in the hole running like there’s no tomorrow someday the sun will return perch on my shoulder and then I’ll walk back into the light I’ll be my own best friend again no one will no one will no one will ever know but I will

Dig a Hole 04:29
Dig a hole, out there somewhere Where no one’s watching, and no one cares The things we need, don’t come easy It takes the steady hand, of a ruthless man And when the suckers come You make ‘em pay for the privilege Yapping for mama’s milk like A nation of little babies Take this big fat, pile of money Build yourself a nice new library Just let me sleep already Let me sleep Let me sleep Let me sleep Oh captain, lead us on Through the mountains, through the fog It takes a pile of money, to get things done It takes a lot of gumption, to be the one Who takes his pile of money And tries to run this whole damn country If we can’t trust you, big daddy Who will guard our piles of money? So we can sleep So we can sleep So we can sleep

Goya 03:25
Spotted dogs wait on the hill, For the young men to go hunting girl selling oranges approaches a group of men picnicking and sporting lovely majas in a circle holding hands and In a stretched sheet they are tossing effigy of a young man stuffed and painted and wordlessly accepting Everything everything Francisco Francisco De goya Group of women with their faces twisted You can hear the evil cackling Two men on the plain in the last light Simply beating each other to death On the rim of a black hill two figures are Tangled up and flying The devil himself in the form of a goat-man Over witches is presiding Everything everything Francisco Francisco De Goya

Put you in my electron microscope Put you in my mass spectrometer ‘cause I was curious ‘cause I was curios ‘cause I was curios What made you go? I wanna know I wanna know And we’d roll downhill I’d be Jack you be Jill and we’d roll downhill We’d just roll downhill until Until we run out of things to say Until we run out of things to say Spent some me time with my bathyscope down inside the Marianas Trench ‘cause I was furious ‘cause I was furious ‘cause I was furious Where did you go? I wanna know I wanna know And we'll roll downhill I'll be Jack you be Jill and we'll roll downhill roll downhill

Carrie I’m dead on my feet just take the wheel for awhile When we get to the Salton Sea You can wake me When the things in my head Meet the things that I see when all of these worlds are colliding in me I said what I said ‘cause I thought it would be The right thing The right thing met the wrong thing out on the street then that’s when the wrong thing happened to me We fell down that golden road Into the arms of the blue-white sea Everything so shiny and new there killed me when the things that you want Meet the things out of reach When all of these dreams start To rotting in me I did what I did ‘cause I thought it might Set us free But freedom, don’t come cheap oh how much freedom oh how much freedom oh how it cost me Just lay me down for awhile The desert night is so soft and sweet Billions of perfect stars burning When the things that I loved meet the things that I need when all of these words are exploding in me I did what I did but it never seemed to be the right thing

I know you’re tired, I know it’s late You feel like you should’ve been done with this shit Years ago but winter’s here, it’s not your fault well you push but they’re pushing you out to sea Just one more year, you stick it out Well they push but you're Pushing them back – you’ll see The time is now, it’s not too late Just take a look and you’ll like what you See – in me California takes what California wants And California breaks, whatever gets in its way whatever gets in its way I heard the waves breaking I heard the sky call my name I saw the lights shining All the way from Californ-i- a

Maybe we’ll finally find what we need Maybe this gimcrack American dream Isn’t what it used to be someday kids will play in the street lions they will lie down and sleep before Before they eat someone again I want the ground solid under my feet I want you very near to me When it all comes down I dreamt of people down on their luck Empty windows and empty lots Staring back at me Wake up, my little sunshine, Everything we had is gone I think it’s gone for good Sometimes too much is just too much Every day it rains new stuff and Every day is bargain day Then you wake up down in the hole Wishing just don’t make it so And it don’t pay the bills Now the half-empty neighborhoods sigh Underneath the unrelenting skies of lost opportunity wake up, my little sunshine everything we had is gone I think it's gone for good

Los Angeles 04:00
I’m sorry but we’ve changed our minds we won’t be coming in today you wouldn’t believe it if I told you to your face and in between the spaces in between there’s dust and hair and little ‘ol me and calls coming in from out of state I hear the ringing in my sleep but I try, so hard to let it be I’m still, in charge I'm still free they can't touch me did you get my memo did you see my CC? I’ve been so busy haven’t slept for a week and calls coming in ‘till very late why don’t they just let me be? ‘cause I try, so hard to let it be I’m still, in charge I’m still free They can’t touch me now I’m gonna move to Los Angeles there, carve me a mountain top I’ll, live off the royalties I’ll pick up my check once a week once a week

Never There 03:35
After the war When the silence came we weren't sure What to do with ourselves All of the parts Lying at our feet All of the people running in the street Sun lies lazy On the patio 2 o’clock falls Silent as the snow – back home Maybe I’ll sleep Again someday Maybe I’ll walk With my head held high – when they come Sometimes things just fall of their own volition Sometimes things get lost somewhere in translation the year that never was lost to retribution walking with the ghosts they make the best companions these days maybe I was never here You were never there
10.
Amends 06:25
Oh well I heard / you turned yourself in As though that/ could make a difference They weren’t the ones / they were just there When the ice breaks / everyone knows who’s/left/standing And you’ll come around, after awhile Your ghost will be wandering / around in the hall You’ll come around / and empty the years but you’ll be blind and bound with open ears you will start again, to make amends you must start again to make amends you must start again to make amends you must start again to make amends and they might forgive / but they won’t forget all that they gave / all that you took can never replace / can never recall her off kilter laugh / his disarming smile and you’ll come around / after awhile and you’ll want back in / back from exile and they’ll hold the key / to your broken heart you’ll have to give in/ make a new start part/ from the hate and the dream you must start again, to make amends

There’s something broken out here But I don’t know its name I saw a beautiful hole up in the sky yesterday And I just want to go there I just want to live there now At the Buckskin Saloon Knee deep in SUV’s had a double helping of some of that western authenticity covered in gravy oh no C’mon tell me man How long will you last With no air conditioning And no cable TV? you can keep your holocaust I will sit out the reckoning with the great unwashed out here And nothing is the same Just like it never was and the dream they’re spinning now It’s downright dangerous

Cut adrift, in a sea of houses, And empty streets I love the times, when the day hangs quiet On the lonely breeze Motorcycle girl, out buying groceries just like me Where do you ride, with your tea and pickles? and how do you sleep? when the night, lies around In this average town I am trying to stop, and believe That it’s normal and right To give up the fight to grow up and get in, to the game I woke up, to the smell of fire set in my sleep Sometimes it seems, like my veins are racing With gasoline Motorcycle girl, with your horn-rimmed glasses did you see me? Where do you ride, when the feeling rises? Do you break free? And the sun, hits the ground in this dirty old town I am making it all up again Are you riding tonight? your hands on the bars And your eyes on the silvery sky?

I will stay, the same As though I had a reason or the wherewithal to change I was made, this way It’s written on my face It’s written on my DNA When you wake up in the morning scared of everything When you wake up in the morning From some horrible dream hang on to the little things and you will be ok Sometimes it’s just the little things that keep the world at bay I was born, to change C’mon c'mon bring it on, bring it on make my day ‘cause nothing, ever stays the same People they come and go, they come and go They go away When you wake up in the morning Tired of everything When you wake up in the morning And you feel yourself drowning Hang on to the little things and you will be ok sometimes it's just the little things that keep the world at bay Among the Hard hard rocks and the white white snow And the dark green trees and the silver tips Of the dark green leaves ‘gainst The sharp blue sky And the warm grey light as it falls On the man by the rail with the blue/green hat As he turns to the left and looks to the back Where a woman is pulling some bread from a bag and a boy reads a book on his back in the grass and it's all in it's place and it's all in it's place
