Ace
05:01
|
|||
Ace up with the sun / chase the frost from the thistle
up and then he ran / down the road
his head feels broken in / like a rotten old pumpkin
too much to hold / just let go
and the ten is a long wide / dangerous ribbon
but the river / it's like wine
when the sun is high / it'll have it's
gun at your back / better find a cool station
in that grey line of trees / a flash of color
brings me to my knees / god I miss you all
if you knew how much I / loved you all
so much / it ran me through
it's too much to hold / you just let go
let it take you / take you
just wash me up / somewhere cleaner
show me my own mind
let me see it all / for what it is
let me see it / with kind eyes
in this warm velvet sand / I think I'll lay me down
and close my eyes / stop by and say hello
soon, surrounded by / trees in bloom
everyone I ever knew
we were all there then / all together
it was fine / it was fine
and it's so damn good / to see you all
and did I mention / I love you?

Falling on me
05:03
|
|||
just hanging around the house, waiting for the apple to fall
there's thousands of moving parts, there's a complicated rain
falling on me
2,500 miles, I remember everyone
there's a dimestore Milky Way, strung with last year's Christmas lights
shining on me
I got a flair for the dramatic
put myself in a special light
and it's so damn problematic
all this space and time
will you ever come around? will you ever come my way?
will we ever sleep in the arms, of that sweet ol' day to day?
could you count on me?
could you count on me to be
your one and only?

Everywhere
02:56
|
|||
the lines are waiting, for the tiny hands to climb
we are so soft and pink, easily punctured
by words, and deeds,
and little lead pellets that, fly through the air
I saw your face then, I saw you in there
you can't be gone
'cause you're too much here
you can't be gone
'cause you're everywhere
everywhere
They feel your absence, like a plague
they are pounding out, one more ugly day
and they are sewing, it all up inside
once you fall down, you may never find your way
back you your life
you can't be gone
'cause you're too much here
you can't be gone
'cause you're everywhere

Paper Thin
05:32
|
|||
what goes on behind your pearl black eyes?
the things you say don't quite illuminate
the turbulence of your recent life
there's a wall between order and strife
and it's paper thin
he's not coming along, for the ride
too scared to move, too scared to speak
sees the truth like it's a strange device
in your hand a razor sharp new knife
and it's paper thin
if you don't try, you can't win
c'mon try, you can win
we sit talking in the warm spring light
too tired to move to full to care
I lost the list of things I had to do
close my eyes and some breeze
blew me here 'cause I'm
paper thin
c'mon try, you can win
if you don't try, you can't win

Me and You
03:27
|
|||
there was me, and you
and Vietnamese food
and I finally made my awkward move
on the sidewalk
in front of God and everyone
and I never had a plan
just slipped on your eyes and fell in
again
and New York seems
like a chipboard model
of a city I dreamt
once upon a time
and the air in between
heavy with disappointments
and possibilities
both
and I don't know, where I'll be
when it all, comes to rest

Banging Away
03:19
|
|||
if I was pure
like fresh laid snow
on the ground
in Prospect Park
then I'd be there
in your blue-green gaze
instead of here
in this hot dark place
and I know
and I'm sorry
I left you
hanging high and dry
went off to chase my latest
shot at a
brand new life
and now I'll try
to get it right
this time
I'll get it right
here comes the fear
it's made of earth and steel
I spend my nights
at the foundry
where all the men
know I'm ridiculous
ain't got no fire
no thunder
just my tiny arms
banging away

The Introverts Tucson, Arizona
Hoge Day and Mark Taylor met while both were members of an artist's collective gallery in Tucson, Arizona. Their years-long
friendship and collaboration would eventually give birth to the band, the introverts.
Daniel Behrend joined them on drums, and, for the album, Speak, they were joined by bassist Blair Forward to help create their driving, signature sound.
